Borough is an ancient market, it dates back to 1014 and is one of the largest food markets in London.  Its identity has changed as London has changed around it and it is now regarded as a go to place for the best in all food items.  It reflects the buzz of Shoreditch,  times are changing rapidly and the market has kept pace to service the needs of its ever changing clientele.

Also sad that when we talk about Borough Market now one of the thoughts we inevitably have will be about the terrible events of 5th June and the innocent victims. London and its people always bounces back and Borough is very much open for business.

I was lucky enough to be commissioned by McCann Erickson for Miele to capture portraits of some of the traders who work at the market, catching them very much on the job it was challenging and fun working with them in the midst of the usual bustle of the market.  I wanted a natural look but still with production values so we built a portable lighting solution allowing us to light our subjects without creating havoc or disrupting their business.

Here are a few of the images from the shoot and next time you’re in town, be sure to get down to Borough, even if you’re just grabbing a quick bite on the hoof, the choice and quality of street food is incredible.
