New season, new kit, new attitude!

That was the message Aston Villa wanted to get out to their supporters, not having had the greatest season doing the triumphant thing wasnt going to cut it with the fans but with a new manager, new kit sponsor Macron on board and the continued support of Randy Lerner there was a strong message to get out.  Drawing on the amazing history Aston Villa has and bringing the clubs emblem into play, a rampant lion, along with the lion like qualities in the players themselves the Beware Of The Lions concept was born.

The shoot itself was to feature Shay Given, Gabby Agbonlahor, Stephen Ireland, Gary Gardner, Darren Bent, Chris Herd and Andreas Weimann.  A powerful group image within the context of the club home Villa Park and then individual action pieces to demonstrate their individual qualities, being perfectly suited to the terminology applied to a pride of lions.

Shooting took place over several locations and final images contructed from elements from  5 individual shoots. Using specialised high speed strobe for the action sequences I was able to capture the new kit down to every thread, important as these images would be going onto posters, giant store wraps and 300 dpi lifesize POS, crispness was critical but so was emotion and soul, the challenge beyond the technical was to show these guys meant business. I have to say the players gave us their all and the results speak for themselves.
